Every four years the Aging & Adult Services of Coastal Washington (AASCW) seeks broad input from our community members in Clallam, Grays Harbor, Jefferson, and Pacific Counties to help us develop an Area Plan. The Area Plan guides our work in building a more age- and disability-friendly community that supports aging in the place of the client’s choice. Once approved, the Area Plan provides a road map for program development, funding priorities, and planning for the Olympic region.
The Area Plan includes the regional demographics, identifies trends, strengths and weaknesses in the long-term care system available to our region, as well as goals and objectives. AASCW’s Advisory Council members play a lead role in helping to develop the plan and in guiding the Plan’s work. Once completed, the Area Plan is submitted to the Council of Governments through a public hearing process. Once finalized the Plan is sent to the State Unit on Aging, part of the DSHS Aging and Long-Term Support Administration (ALTSA), which in turn files a State Plan on Aging with the federal Administration on Aging, all part of the Aging Network authorized by the Older Americans Act of 1965.

Public hearings will be held on:
- Monday, August 24, 2026 at 3pm at Coastal Community Action Program’s office.
- Thursday, August 27, 2026 at 2pm at AASCW’s Sequim office.
2024-2027: AASCW Area Plan
On Nov. 2, 2023, the Council of Governments approved the final draft of the agency’s 2024-2027 Area Plan for submission to ALTSA. ALTSA approved the plan on April 19, 2024. Below please find a link to AASCW’s 2024-2027 Area Plan.
